Another Gardenia Fair is over now

On 21-23 February, Poznań once again became the capital of Polish horticulture. A place where you could see live new trends in the industry and gain valuable business contacts.

GARDENIA International Garden and Landscape Architecture Fair was also an excellent opportunity to buy new plants, seeds, substrates, garden care chemicals, tools, gardening equipment, irrigation accessories or elements of small garden architecture.

More than five hundred exhibitors

GARDENIA is a huge commercial platform. At the fairgrounds of MTP Poznań Expo, during the Gardenia/Special Days/Sport Invest fairs block, 550 exhibitors from around the world presented their offer. In the area of MTP as many as 23,723 visitors appeared. The group of exhibitors included the leaders of the horticultural industry from Poland and abroad (including Belgium, China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland). The exhibitors presented an extremely wide range of new plants, some of which will surely become the hit of 2019. The same refers to the presented gardening equipment, machines and equipment to be used by both amateurs and professionals. There were also the latest technical solutions presented that make work in the gardens or allotments easier. Traditionally, GARDENIA was the place of the premiere of several dozen new products, both in the plant and machinery and equipment sector.

Getting acquainted with new trends

Thanks to the presentation of new products during the GARDENIA Fair, visitors have an excellent opportunity to find inspiration and learn about the latest trends. – We are introducing a collection of seeds that are a ready-made solution for people who like freedom in the species selection. The collection is composed of larger packages in which e.g. women will find several types of basil or cut flowers. Besides, we are also expanding the offer in the BIO, mikrogreens and inlaid seeds categories – the trends in the plant sector were discussed by Joanna Legutko from the W. Legutko company – Gardenia is the only place in Poland where we present the extensive range of plant maintenance equipment. Out of these, mobile lawn mowers are by far the best selling products. They are reliable, durable and professional machines enjoying increasing popularity – added Karol Omelan from John Deere.

Exchange of experience

Each fair is a place of constructive meetings. Events such as the Urban Garden Art Forum "Challenges of a Landscape Architect", or the Landscape Architect Forum "A City Garden: From Terrace to Green Backyard Enclaves" have already build up their reputation in the country.  Many emotions were also inspired by the demonstration gardens designed live as part of the "Inspiring Arrangements" competition. Also the series of workshops, lectures and presentations prepared by the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture of the University of Life Sciences in Poznań enjoyed great popularity.

Established contacts with companies from abroad

The Hosted Buyers programme during the GARDENIA Fair attracted to Poznań sales managers, traders, purchase managers, owners of garden centres, DIY retail chains, horticultural wholesalers or nurseries from abroad. The idea behind the programme is to plan meetings of foreign contractors with Polish exhibitors to facilitate the establishment of business contacts. As part of the Hosted Buyers programme, the capital of the Wielkopolska region was visited by the guests from Scandinavia, the Baltic States and Western Europe. There were also representatives of such well-known retail chains like Castorama, OBI or Brico present. This year, the programme was attended by nearly 100 people.

MTP Gold Medals and Acanthus Aureus awards

During this year's Fair, 15 MTP Gold Medals were awarded.  It is one of the most appreciated awards on the Polish market. For 40 years, it has been a symbol of prestige, promoting innovative products and solutions that change the image of the Polish economy. Since 2018, in collaboration with Wirtualna Polska, the most popular information portal in Poland, campaigns promoting the competition and winners of its subsequent editions have been carried out. 14 companies have been awarded with Acanthus Aureus. The prize is awarded to exhibitors who best illustrated their vision of a stand in conjunction with the company's marketing strategy.

GARDENIA Grand Prix

For the fourth time already, the horticultural trade fair was accompanied by the GARDENIA Grand Prix competition, which is aimed at plant manufacturers. The jury awarded three companies. A&M Kałuzińscy Szkółka Polskie Korzenie was awarded for Yellow Sapphire; Clematis Źródło Dobrych Pnączy for My Darling clematis; and the Plantline company won two statuettes for Eunoymus White Spire and Sarcococca Winter Gem. GARDENIA visitors cast the most votes for My Darling clematis of the Clematis company.

Audience's day

It is already a tradition that the last day of the Fair is prepared for the wide audience. It was the same this year, and the number of attendees proves that it was a real success. All those who dream to create something interesting in their garden had an excellent opportunity to do so. Once again, the garden sale and family gardening workshops with Witold Czuksanow enjoyed great popularity. Visitors also liked meetings with Wojtek Wardecki who showed them how to create a forest in a bulb, and the cycles of advice offered by Marek Jezierski, author of the well-known TV programme "Rok w ogrodzie" (A Year in the Garden).

See you next year

Traditionally, Gardenia has been an excellent source of inspiration and knowledge of the latest trends in gardening. – For 13 years, the GARDENIA International Garden and Landscape Architecture Fair has been based on the same foundations. The foundations are the presentation of global trends and raising horticultural awareness. The event formula is conducive to establishing relationships, sharing knowledge and experience and acquiring business know-how – summed up the event Paulina Maniecka, Gardenia Fair Director. Unfortunately, the fragrant and colourful flowering exhibition halls filled with true plant and machine hits are already gone. We say goodbye to them, but only for one year. We would like to invite you to another edition of the Gardenia International Garden and Landscape Architecture Fair that will be held in just 12 months.
